It is actually quite simple to prevent your machine from propagating the virus, even if you are infected. This applies to people who have Outlook Express, which is one of the prime targets of this virus. 1) Go to the tools/options menu 2) Click on the "general" tab, and make sure that "send and receive messages at startup," and "check for messages every (blank) minutes" are NOT checked. 3) Also, under the "send" tab make sure that "send messages immeditely" is NOT checked. This way you can prevent the machine from sending out any messages automatically. If you examine the content of your outbox before manually giving the order to send/receive, you can first delete the infected messages from your outbox before you send them. The only inconvenience is that you have to manually tell the machine to "send and receive," but your friends will surely appreciate your efforts at safe computing.
