A late weigh-in: As I told a local reporter who interviewed me for a reaction to Bush's decision on funding stem cell research, I was heartened by the outcome of a difficult political and ethical decision by the president. After all, the research community was expecting to get zilch for stem cells when Bush was elected, and ended up with some measurable positives. At least there will continue to be activity on the research front. Calling Bush an idiot and general grousing about the system is fine, but of limited utility long-term.
