Linda Herman asked for individual pwp reaction/response to Pres Bush's stem cell decision.

As I listened to the live tv address of the president, I was disappointed that even though he seemed to recognize the great potential of medical discoveries and hopefully the eventual cures and relief from suffering to chronically ill millions of American citizens, the president was not brave enough to take the needed bold leap to allow stem cell research to thrive. He seemed reluctant to shoulder the responsibility of agreeing to allow federal funding of research involving excess frozen embryos--to be discarded- in order to reach for the discoveries that will answer core questions about cell development and cell life and death.

I'm confident that this research will continue in Canada, Europe and privately funded research in the USA. I just wanted the chance to "improve" and not the promise to "continue to be less able" as Parkinson's limits my mobility, my energy, my endurance and my patience. Like most pwp, I want the answer and the cure to depleted dopamine and inactive cells in the substantia nigra of MY brain. Pres Bush, you are not the champion you might have been.
