Dear Mr. McCarthy:

It is fine to take vitamins if they make you feel better. In general,
however, persons with good diets do not need vitamin supplements.

The notion that specific vitamins can help in Parkinson's Disease has been
around for a long time. Recent emphasis has been on the so-called
antioxidants - Vitamin C, Vitamin E, CoQ10, and NADH. To my knowledge,
there is not one iota of evidence that they are more efective than placebo.

However, placebo does make some people feel better.

What is important is to make sure you do not exceed the recommended daily
doses of Vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin E - the "fat soluble" vitamins,
since excess of those vitamins can cause problems. In addition, in PWP
taking levodopa, pyridoxine, or Vitamin B6, can reduce the efficacy of
levodopa by accelerating its metabolism.
