I just joined this group and wish to ask an important question first, then introduce myself. Question: Does anyone know of a website that lists the neurosurgeons in USA who perform DBS STN surgery showing number done and other relative information? Back to me, I'm 56 yr, diag 1990. I had a head injury in 1960 resulting in a plastic plate on left side of skull (don't grimace, no pain with that at all, I am thankful for all of my blessings !) The only reason I mentioned the head injury was how it might relate to any surgery I could have for PD. I feel that I am a little more at risk in that my brain is not as "viewable" with that plate in the way. My neurologist has reccommended DBS STN...the operation sounds great if it goes as expected. What are the %? And if I want to go ahead, how (as asked above) to find the different doctors so that I can then coordinate who's who with my insurance coverage. I viewed on this site the excellent research locations. Is that where I need to start? Does anyone have any inside word on approval of the DBS STN bilateral surgery by FDA and/or Medicare?
