Wednesday August 22 1:18 PM ET Beeping Bottle Reminds Patients to Take Medicines NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Coming soon to a medicine cabinet near you: a beeping and flashing pill bottle that reminds you to take your medication. Owens-Brockway Prescription Products said Tuesday that it is preparing to launch the Remind Cap, which emits a beep and flashes a red light when a patient should take a pill. Owens-Brockway will be the exclusive North American distributor for the product, which is manufactured by Hong Kong-based Remind Cap Ltd., according to a spokesperson for parent company Owens-Illinois. The device can be programmed by pharmacists to issue reminders up to four times per day, an Owens-Brockway representative said. The cap will ``flash repeatedly every few seconds and beep four times consecutively every 5 minutes'' when a dose of mediation is due, she said. The Remind Cap works for about 36 days. Pricing has not yet been set, according to the firm.
