Dear Renee, > I have changed the timing of > Sinamet<sp> to 1 hr before eating, she drinks soy milk instead of cow's > milk..... made bran muffins, give her prune juice, offer fruit during > the day, and try to make he ratio of protein to carbs as close to 1:7 > as I can.... This has been going on for about a week.... It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Was she having "on-off" fluctuations previously? That would be the reason to offer the low-protein diet. Otherwise, it may not be needed -- just giving the Sinemet an hour before meals might be sufficient to improve her "on time." > Today se lost > her balance more extremely then before, she even fell on the ground when > opening up the car door, also I heard he choking a few times today... > and asked her about it.... seems her symptoms got worse today... Could it be that perhaps the PD is progressing and she is becoming undermedicated? If so, the doctor might want to change the kinds or amounts of her medications. > I know > I am doing nothing wrong, and this could be just an off day....can > anyone help me with a little insite into what might be happening > today.... I'm sure you're not doing anything wrong, Parkinson's is very hard even for the specialists to understand. Some things that can occur: if a person doesn't have a bowel movement for several days, the medications can quit working no matter when they're given. Also, if she didn't get enough fluids, she could become dehydrated, and that will change the PD symptoms. She could have an infection, especially a urinary tract infection -- and infections will definitely change or stop the action of medications, and will cause behavior change as well. > I will call and ask the Dr also tomorrow.... Thanks in > advance...I have been with Gert for only 2 months and new to trying to > understand Parkinson's... Renee You're doing a fine job, just seeking information is a big step.
