Greetings from Maine.

Tonight everywhere people are lighting
candles, and flying the American flag.

Suddenly the shadows of night fell,
and the waving flags and candles
frame the silhouettes of groups of people
lining the roadways and the side streets,
in the night. The voices cheer , and
call. out Whispers amplify in the
cool air, and horns are honking.
America's spirit is undergoing a revival.

It seems like 1776,but it is 2001.

Terrorism is stealthy. I am still
having a hard time with the fact
tjhat they slept - or hid - in a local
motel, and could have driven
through my neighborhood to
get to the airport , before they boarded
early morning commuter flights to Boston.

Somehow Maine is projected
into the spotlight , but it is not our
rocky coasts and sandy beaches
that you see. Instead, it is the
endless tragedy unfolding in an
unimaginable and unsettling
manner.

I am upset that the Parkinson's
Walk had to be cancelled. I really
am worried that our research
monies from the Udall Act will
be lost and that research will
be even further delayed.

The world is changing so fast
that I feel like every moment is
crucial. People are definitely
in many stages of grief and anger.

Thank you for your support,
everyone, and for whatever
reason , please keep writing.
