Friends--you asked what we should do if not retaliate militarily. Please read this before you dismiss it as "claptrap"--- In Iran, we had supported the Shah, whose merciless secret police terrorized his own citizens--and some of our people were taken hostage--- Then our American government supported Saddam Hussein because we wanted Iraq as a counterbalance in the Middle East against Iran. That didn't do us much good in the long run. We also armed and supported the fiercely reactionary Taliban in Afghanistan, because they were fighting the Russians---never mind their extreme oppression of their women. Now you apparently consider them our enemies, as they harbor terrorists--- Maybe one thing we CAN do is to be more careful about where we put our weight and what interests we support, and whether they exploit their own people, so that our support sows the seeds of hatred toward America, and a desire for revenge ? -- Camilla Flintermann Oxford,OH <[log in to unmask]> on the web at http://www.geocities.com/camillahf/index.html And visit the CARE webring at http://www.pdcaregiver.org "In all beginnings, endings lie enfolded, implicit and invisible as roots." from: "Leaving the Garden"--CHF ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
