how is it
that three different and great religions
originated in essentially the same small patch of eastern Mediterranean soil
and with essentially the same Holy Book,
aka the Bible's Old Testament, aka the Torah, aka the Koran ?
if one believes that one is a 'Soldier in God's Army'
fighting the 'Forces of Satan' in a holy war, and that
if one dies a martyr while fighting them
one gains instant entrance into a heavenly paradise,
would one not laugh and celebrate the sight of a mighty blow struck to the
'enemy' ?
and would such a one not disregard as irrelevant
any threats of punishment or vengeance or retaliation or retribution
from the 'Forces of Satan' ?
how is it
that the vast majority of bloody conflicts in this world, past and present,
have had 'religious beliefs' as their root cause ?
how is it
that the leaders of the Protestant and Catholic churches
(branches of the same 'Christian' religion)
have not ended the centuries of 'troubles' in Ireland ?
how is it that one way air tickets paid for with cash
do not raise any 'red flags' at some airline ticket counters ?
how is it that the flight decks of some passenger jets are open to all ?
how is it that El Al airlines has not had a single hi-jacking in 30 years ?
Some have stated a determination to take revenge on
not just the 'criminals' but also those 'who harbour them' ...
when a dissident (OBL)
fights against religious tyranny (in AFG)
as perpetrated by our 'evil empire enemy' (USSR),
who is our 'ally'?
when that rebel (OBL)
is trained in guerilla warfare by our intelligence agency (CIA),
who is 'harbouring' him?
when the religious tyrant (USSR) withdraws (from AFG)
and leaves the devout religious fundamentalists (TBN) in charge,
who is our 'ally'?
