there is a lot of info in the list archives about drug
induced psychosis

since we are mostly people with pd ourselves,
perhaps you'd be more comfortable discussing your
problem with your sister
on the caregiver's list?

Subj: ambushed?
------------------------------------------------------------

are terrorist attacks
not similar to sudden sneak ambushes?

are urgent violent efforts to 'take out the ambushers'

not similar to rallying a lynch mob?

does the modern 'civilized' world not espouse
principles of the rule of law?

does a lynch mob led by the victimized party follow
those principles?

are we after justice or revenge?

they are not the same thing

Subj: NEWS: Man 'unaware' of criminal harassment
------------------------------------------------------------

hi all

our incredible brains
and their incredibly sensitive chemical balance!

schizophrenia is said to be due to an overabundance of
dopamine

janet

------------------------------------------------------------
Man 'unaware' of criminal harassment

Delusions involved actor and NBC news

Wenesday September 19, 2001 - An Ottawa man who
believes he is engaged to
'Dawson Creek's Katie Holmes and says NBC owes him
millions of dollars for
news story ideas has been committed to a mental
hospital indefinitely.

The order was made by Justice David Dempsey yesterday,
after Michael
Willis, 36, was found to suffer from mental illness so
acutely that he
couldn't be aware he was criminally harassing Ben
Heineman, general council
for GE, which owns NBC, and Martin Holmes, the
22-year-old actor's father,
with hundreds of phone calls.

Dr. John Bradford, a forensic psychiatrist at the
Royal Otttawa Hospital,
testified Mr. Willis is highly delusional and possibly
schizophrenic.

"There is no cure for either of these conditions", he
said. "This is going
to be a very difficult road. Very recently he has said
it's quite within
his rights to call Mr. Heineman and Mr. Holmes because
GE owes him millions
of dollars, and he is Katie Holmes' fiance."

Dr. Bradford said evidence of Mr. Willis' mental
illness appeeared in late
1996 and early 1997. Its onset represents a tragedy
for the sick man.

Mr. Willis, who grew up in Ottawa, excelled in
academics and sports,
finishing top of his class in high school and
undergraduate university
studies. He was a Rhodes Scholar and top of his
economics class at Oxford
University. He received a PhD from the prestigious
Wharton School of
Business in Pennsylvania and had several articles in
the Economist.

In the phone calls, Mr. Willis demanded money for
story ideas he said Tom
Brokaw was stealing and money for an engagement ring
for Ms. Holmes.

The doctor said that people who obstruct Mr. Willis'
view of things could
be in danger if he is released without treatment.

hi all

i wanted to share this with you

it seems to me that this idea of perceptions
and 'what we see is what we want to see'
is only the tip of the iceberg

herein lies the source of all conflict and
misunderstanding
methinks

i write and post out of a need to learn and to share

others have seen my postings
as a generous gift
as pompous preaching
as bold braggadoccio (sp ?)
as an obsessive compulsive disorder

but i am learning that what others see
has nothing to do with
me
or what i do

it has only to do with
them
and whatever their perceptions are filtered by

not to add to the us/them conflict concept
but
i cannot be guilty of what i do not do
i cannot be guilty of what others want to see

and neither can you

janet
