I am still afraid Bush n Congress are promising more than the can deliver. Our Armed Forces are in a sorry state compared to how we stood before Bubba took over in 1993. A Desert Storm would not go smoothly now as it did in 1991, I have heard and read. As one small example in1990-1991 90% of our supplies and material were swiftly transported to Saudi Arabia by US ships. Today, that figure could be only 10% Fortunately our enemies [Afghanistan] are now small. But do not think we can just bomb the ever-loving crap out of even a backward country like that one and prevail. There is literally almost nothing there to destroy, except huts, villages, caves, tunnels and footpaths. Like the Soviets found out 25 years ago, it would be almost like bombing a graveyard; trying to kill people already dead. We're going to have to insert ground forces to catch this guy, which I don't think there is any way we can fail to accomplish that if other countries keep their borders closed, as they have promised to do. I just don't think it is going to provide the almost instant gratification that Desert Storm did - and that was against an enemy who had not directly wronged the US! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ed Grskovich" <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Saturday, September 15, 2001 1:49 PM Subject: Non- PD Re: just mulling on a few questions ... > In a message dated 9/15/01 11:36:09 AM, [log in to unmask] writes: > > << no situation is black and white >> > > Maybe, the WTCs and the people in it will reappear tomorrow.
