Composition and Rhetoric

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education at
the Faculty of Education, McGill University,  invites applications for a
tenure-track position
in Rhetoric and Professional Writing, at the Assistant Professor rank,
effective August 1, 2002.  The successful candidate will work primarily
within the Department's Centre for the Study and Teaching of Writing
(CSTW).  We seek candidates who have a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric
with expertise in one or more of the following areas: discourse analysis,
document design, graphic communication, Web-based instruction and related
areas of online technology, technical writing, and professional writing
(particularly in Management, Engineering, Law, and Medicine). Corporate or
other professional experience in related areas would be an asset.  We place
a strong emphasis on both the theory and practice of writing, and are
particularly interested in someone with knowledge of interactive
technologies and their applications to writing pedagogy and research. The
successful candidate will be an experienced, effective
teacher/writer/researcher with strong interpersonal skills who has the
ability to foster excellence in research and teaching.  Immediate duties
will include teaching at the undergraduate level and initiating a research
program that will help the CSTW assess and expand its current program.
