Hi.
I use a walker with wheels and hand brakes. They are approx. $180-250. I bought one
of mine and then medicare reimbursed me.

My husband is a structural engineering and often uses me in explaining mass, force,
ect. to his students.  That doesn't keep me from falling and stress fractures:)   My
walker helps  along with exercise.  I totally comprehend the reasoning of
balance,ect. it is  just my body that doesn't comply all the time.  My
walker/rollator has been a part of me for the past  5 years. I am on my third
walker.

My husband does not ask if I want to bring my walker with when we go out. He gets
the car, opens the car door, comes and gets me, follows me to the car, hands me my
fanny pack/purse, water, makes sure I am buckled in, closes the door, puts the
walker in the trunk and we go.

 Get a referral to a Rehab Physician and a Physical therapist for a proper
assessment of what kind of walker is needed. Also, a P.T. may help ur wife with
exercises and techniques to help her improve her walking, balance, ect.  Go with ur
wife into therapy, so U can learn how to help her safely at home.

As for turning, I make wide turns when I am turning a corner in the store, ect.
like a semi -truck does on the street only I am little. When a person drives they
can't take turns at 35 mph, they slow down to make a turn so a crash  or flipping
over is avoided. Same with walking.
