My husband, Neal, has had a cough since last spring. It is, according to
our doctor, related to his end-stage PD. It happens mostly at night, or after
daytime naps. Although he sounds like he is suffering from an advanced case of
bronchitis, or is having an attack of croup, his lungs are clear and he has no
evidence of any bacterial or viral respiratory problem, Neither is it due to an
allergy. The doc tells us that when he is lying down, nasal and salivery
secretions collect and his swallowing muscles fail to function efficiently
because of his PD. He is not taking any medications that are known to cause a
cough. His cough is an attempt to get rid of what has accumulated. It is
alarming

to hear and one more PD related problem for him to endure.
