Thanks to all who ressponded to my question about voice recognition
software. These were recommended:

"ViaVoice" by IBM.
Dragon  Naturally Speaking Professional
L & H Voice Xpress

Many added the comment that  it takes a great deal of time and patience
to program any of these to work correctly. Also that  background noise
can affect it's accuracy.
I'm wondering now how useful  this would be at work if you share an
office with others and where there are often conversations aand other
background noise going on?
