To those of you who can participate in Tom's study, I highly encourage
you to do so. Although I have never met Tom, I discovered his work about
a year and a half ago and find it very interesting. It is based on
observations that external cues sometimes improve movement in PD. The
major question is what percentage of the PD population can benefit from
such an approach. Tom's study will give us some data in a controlled
experiment.

I'm working on a different kind of cueing device. However, our work is
complementary. There is much work that needs to be done to understand
the enabling mechanism behind the movement improvements. We need to
explore the differences in effectiveness in the cueing methods and
explore if a combination of methods is of any benefit.

Although, these devices are not cures they may provide near term relief.
However, I think their greatest benefit may prove to be as test tools in
research to study the pathology behind our PD.

If Tom's device is found to be effective, it will offer us a relatively
low cost adjunt therapy that could significantly improve our quality of
life.
