I had a friend who was a t.v. producer. He spent a week interviewing Timothy Reilly and came back certain Quinine cured everything. I suspect some LSD may have been mixed in that Tonic water...BUT he also socialized and interviewed people in the medical profession and he was told that Quinine was a powerful drug. I thought it was removed from Tonic water after research indicated it was harmful to some people. The warning is excellent.
