Wonderful website! Highly recommended! -----Original Message----- From: Parkinson's Information Exchange Network [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of S.J.Abas Sent: Sunday, December 23, 2001 9:24 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: I AM ABSOLUTELY THRIVING ON PARKINSON I am a 65 years old Applied Mathematician and Computer Scientist based at the University of Wales, Bangor, UK. Until the age of 60, I was super fit and had an international reputation as a guru of fitness and the fight against aging. However, just before my 61st birthday I began to notice a tremor in my right hand and in June 1998 was diagnosed as suffering from PD. I was devastated and ended up spending 5 weeks in a psychiatric unit. I was put on Ropinirole, but by the end of 1999 I had reached a pathetically low state. But then in March 2000 I decided to take matters in my own hand. Using my own philosophical system ( a holistic brain-centred model of the human personality) which I call Neurobics, and a unique exercise system derived from Neurobics, which I call Neuroplay and with minimal reliance on drugs, I have been able to to transform PD into a blessing and an opportunity, eliminate or diminish all of its nasty and destructive symptoms and am now living an exciting, creative, adventurous and joyous existence. Indeed, many things I do now are of a higher standard than they were before I discovered that I have succumbed to PD. Furthermore, I am continuing to improve all the time. Having had the experience and examined what is on offer, I now totally reject the dogma that "Parkinson is a necessarily a progressive diseases." My advice to you is: For God sake don't throw away the chance of a joyous and vigorous existence today waiting some for some miracle that may happen tomorrow. At present the miracles seem to do great things for monkeys and then fail to make the jump to humans. I hope I am wrong, but it may be another 20 years before stem cell research and such promised miracles materialize. I believe that knowledge is available today to revolutionize the treatment of Parkinson. The fault lies in the fragmented ways of our experts and the pathetic limitations of the drug-based approach. The approach used by me to tackle Parkinson is entirely different from anything that is on offer elsewhere.
