First of all, right off the bat-I want you all to know that it is disgraceful and demeaning for anyone to try to sell hope to a group of people who are desperate for anything that might make this disease a bit more bearable. I have had Pakinson's for 11 years now and don't you dare insult my reality nor my intellegence by trying to sell your snake oil here. Now, that I have waited the recommended 1 hour before posting anything in haste or anger, I will continue with this letter. By the way, I am an open-minded person, beleive it or not, but I stand by my previous statements. The person to whom Jim Cordy and I and so many others are talking about is Mrs. Margaret Tuchman, who has been living with this disease for twenty years now and is the President of the Parkinson Alliance. She, along with her tireless, ever cheerful and wonderful, Executive Director of the Allaince, Carol Walton, have done more towards raising awareness and finding a treatment alternative for our disease than almost anyone that I can think of (Jim Cordy being no slouch himself!!). If you would like to know more about the work of these extraordinary individuals, please go to: http://www.parkinsonalliance.net/home.html Also, I would like to thank everyone who reponded to my "Middle of the Night" post. I have been overwhelmed by the number of responses and I will be posting again soon, after the Holidays and after I have my new wheelchair for a few more days. We are, I would say still in the "gettting to know each other" mode-but I can tell you this much, she certainly has a mind of her own-you can tell by the deep gouges in my office door! May you all experience the true joys and peace of this wonderful time of the year and may we all share in God's gente goodness in the new year to come!! Sincerely, Joan E.
