Dear All,

Thank you for your help and suggestions. Yes, I am beginning to realize that no two people with Parkinson's are alike! My mom and I attend a Parkinson support group and everyone is different. What works for one doesn't work for another. To answer some of Art's questions, my dad sees a neurologist. His med schedule is as follows. The concern being whether he is taking too much Sinemet.

3:00 a.m. 1 tablet Sinemet 25/100
               1 tablet Sinemet CR 50/200

8:15 a.m. 1 tablet Sinemet 25/100
10:15 a.m. 1and 1/2 tablet Sinemet 25/100
1:15 p.m. 1 and 1/2 tablet Sinemet 25/100
4:00 p.m. 1 and 1/2 tablet Sinemet 25/100
7:00 p.m. 1 tablet Sinemet 25/100
               1 tablet Sinemet CR 50/200
Equaling 1150mg. per day; freezing and/or dyskenisia can occur before or 20 min. after taking meds.

He is hoping to start Comtan this coming week. Would anyone know if he should reduce his Sinemet when he begins? I understand no one can prescribe for him, but perhaps someone else is on this schedule also? His neurologist was no help as to dosage and neither was the druggist. The doctor did not suggest the Comtan, we had to. We live out in the "sticks" and it is hard to find good medical care. Also, with his anxiety, he does not want to go far from home - it is very difficult to get him to even go to his local neurologist.

My dad has accepted PD very well; no complaining. He lives out his faith and trust in God day by day, with PD as his companion. I will remain on the list and "listen and learn" from the rest of you. If there is just one small thing I can learn to relieve him one bit, I will be grateful. Theresa
