Linda, I too am disappointed that we do not have a better treatment than we had 9 years ago, but I think these guidelines are still very important. Probably the great majority of PWP in the US are treated by Physicians who know less about PD than many of the people who subscribe to this list serve. The disparity in what's known and care that is received is the primary reason for the Quality Access and Delivery of Parkinson's Care (Quadpac) Program of PDF. We hope to use the "evidence review" as a basis for planning quality of care initiatives. Our data are limited but we know that not only are a quarter of PWP undiagnosed, but only about half treated are seen by a Neurologist, and much fewer see a Movement Specialist. AAN guidelines are important to communicate to the doctors and other health care providers of the vast majority of patients.
