Hi Shekhar, My name is Paula and I am a PWP 48/37/35. I just wanted you to know that I had DBS on 10/30/00 and, I had several obstacles to overcome, but the last three weeks I have felt better (Both emotionally and physically) than I have in 12 years. I'd do it all over again. I tell all my friends WHEN the cure is definite, I'm having a champagne brunch and you're all invited. Lots of luck. Ask me anything! Your letter inspired me to write to you because I felt you have experience which I would like to hear about a bit more. I am 53 year old male married. I have a great wife Christine whom I met 5 years ago just a few months before I was diagnosed almost 4 years ago. We live in Manchester England. Since being diagnosed I have gone from 3 Sinemet tablets per day to 5 doses of 25/100 plus 5 doses of Pergolide (1mg each ie 5mg per day) I am finding this is not enough my on off periods become more frequent and I feel that already I am beginning to want a 6th dose. Where will this end? > > I am beginning to experience intense anxiety and poor sleep at night due to the medication. Could we exchange emails privately is that allowed? I am interested in your DBS experience , does it preclude the stem cell transplant "cure" I mean does this in any way damage your chance of benefiting from future developments. What kind of PD were/ are you suffering? Mine is the rigidity kind Is DBS suitable for this kind of PD? Following DBS how has it changed your life? I would love to question you in more detail. If anyone else has any experiences which might be of help please respond. > > I think this list is excellent, it is really nice to hear from fellow travellers - makes me feel I am not alone. My wife is also beginning to find the letters of interest. > > Shekhar > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Jim Stinson > Sent: 03 February 2002 17:49 > To: [log in to unmask] > Subject: > > janice, hello again. sounds like your lifestyle is neat and you sound as if > you are handling the problem well. > i live on the chatttahooche river in salem al. i have water on 3 sides of me > and i love it here. i am also 54 yrs old and have a wife who is grreat. she > stuck by me through some rough times. the dbs surgery i received absolutely > changed my life. i went from taking 1 1/4 sinemet tabletsevery hour to none. > at the present i am off of all meds and have been since the "deep brain > stimulator " surgery.i now go out and ride the waverunners and boats without > any problems(a little cold right now).speaking of the weather ,it was great > up until last week- 75 and 78 degrees but it dropped to a high of 60 and > upper 50's a couple of days ago. > what kind offv vegetables do you grow? > well, i 'd best go and get ready ---- we're going to my brothers' house to > watch the super bowl. > hope to hear from you soon jim > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] > In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsnGet more from the Web.
