We are from Ontario. Thanks to the people on this list we went to see Dr. JOG in Movement Disorder Clinic at the University hospital in London, Ontario. He is relatively young doctor , would say in his late thirties and is as well an associate professor at the university. My husband is 65 and this doctor said he is relatively young so "we suggest" to start him on agonist rather then on senement (levodopa), "this will come later". He said:"Now that you came to me, please, do not worry anymore. I am one to take care of you and do not let your life be dominated with PD". I cannot thank enough people from this list to point out this very same doctor to us.In many provinces of Canada now you cannot legally drive while on Mirapex and ReQuip. Driving is still very important to my husband and the only one of agonists that we can receive to legally be able to drive is Permax(Pergolide). However, doctor said that all PD drugs can cause you to fall asleep while driving. We have only legal OK to drive. Where ever this doctor goes will follow him unless he moves to US. I know nobody is irreplaceable but to find a good doctor with extraordinary interpersonal skills, is rare. Our family doctor is on the opposite end. Hopefully, the report from this doctor will straighten him out a little. As the actual causing agent to trigger PD is not known, not all cases are hereditary and if there is a gene, it may be triggered by the chain of the events and the environment factors may play a role. Good luck to you.
