Hi Dee! Thank you so much for responding to both my letters. My computer skills definately need some work. I'll put that on my "to do" list and see if it ever works it's way to the top! Everybody is different Dee but I definately think the decision to go on Sinemet now was right for me. I've heard all the concerns about starting it too early but the bottom line for me was, I'm 46, I have a family, a home to take care of , a ministry I love and other responsibilities and I want to feel better now! If starting Sinemet early causes problems in the future then I'll deal with them in the future. If you read Jim's letter, he expressed it really well. Now the thing is, I did not go off of the Requip. I still take it and the selegiline and the sinemet was added. Has the Sinemet helped? Yes!! Is it the miracle drug I was hoping it would be that would make me feel like my old self again? No. But now, although I still battle the fatigue, the stiffness and slowness and of course the "brain thing", I don't really hurt as much. The aching and even muscle cramping is better and I don't have as many of those "totally can't function, I'm better off in bed days". Even on the Sinemet things aren't great, but they are much better. You have to make that decision for yourself, but it might be worth talking to your doctor about. This disease robs us of enough. I didn't want to sacrifice any more 'todays' banking on unknown 'tomorrows'.
Thanks for the input about the multi-tasking. Yes, that does sound better than "klutz".
I can identify with your feelings when you were first diagnosed. I too thought it would bring relief, and I guess it has to some extent, but you're right, it only goes so far. Life still goes on and we're still struggling to catch up. But at least through this list, we have each other and that helps a lot. I'd like to talk again. I 'll be interested in hearing what you decide about the Sinemet. I don't know much about the stem cell research yet but I'll start reading up on it. Thanks for listening and for responding!
Debra
