Spent time this morning calling the office of my Senator Dick Durbin
(Illinois). His office gave me the Bill #'s that will be voted on by the
Senate later in March. I was directed to the Library of Congress' website:
(http://thomas.loc.gov.) There, I could input the Bill #'s: 1893 (Harkin),
1758 (Feinstein) and 790 (Brownbeck) and come up with the outline of the
Bill. By the way, you need to enter the number of the bill preempted with an
S.. Example: S.1893.& then search.
Anyway, for those who are interested, it is worth looking at. I was pleased
that 2 of the 3 bills seem to be in favor of embryonic stem cell research and
cloning for therapeutic purposes. The only Bill that seems to be a detriment
is Brownbeck's Bill (790). I'm in a rush right now to tend to other things
but I will go back to the website later to read the Bill's details more
closely.
