It's an interesting and revealing article, Jann, just another trickle of insight. Think of what has been hidden from us over the years! Think of the many who have suffered without care only to be told, "There were no consequences." or "Nothing was wrong". Heaven help me! My brain just fastened on an analogy between the Government over the years and Enron's escapades! Seems to me the EVERYMAN got lost along the way! The article got me thinking about the survey. In the HOW survey, we had to reduce size by 4 pages. One of those pages was dedicated to geographical information. It was limited to a section in A. We tried to cover as many areas as we could in our survey. Our hope: Someone in the scientific community would find our information adequate enough to consider even though we have no control group. We made it very clear from the beginning that we wanted no names on the survey. We felt the data would speak for itself if we had enough of it. That meant everything but Social Security number and driver's license-and everybody else has those! It meant we needed to supply everything from birth date to ethnic background(could be a vital factor) to the number of stomach aches suffered. We made a point of designating the last page of the survey as the "mailing instruction sheet". Anyone who wanted to could/can mail the completed forms incognito by just supplying an address or no address as desired. I'm honest enough to admit that I'm squeamish about doing surveys. I balk when too much is asked of me because I'm a very private person. Like everyone else, faced with the survey I had to realize that such issues as ethnic background had to be faced squarely. Putting Caucasian or my usual "child of the universe" wouldn't do it; Spanish, Dutch, German, Russian would. Every aspect of us has to be known and compared with others before "cause" is discovered. I'm a layperson, but I firmly believe that "cure" will come first.
