Regarding Temazepam & Valium, I've had a little experience with both. The
first sleep medication was a disaster: that was after being on immovane (a
hypnotic) for a successful year. So I'm now on the tranquilizer Serax, for
nighttime. Temazepam made me nauseous & gave intestinal discomfort. Amien
(another hypnotic) I also found good for short term night usage. Re Valium,
I always have a little on hand for when I wake up too early with stiffness
yet it's not yet time for another sinemet. But really, I find ativan
better. Last night I awoke at 5 am with a rigid body tremor & took 5 mg. of
ativan which got me through a few hrs. of sleep. Valium makes me a little
jittery & I'm wary for how quickly tolerance can develop. I know sleep
disturbance is a problem with PD re side effects of meds. & I'm sure
everyone has a story. I've found over the last 12 yrs., that I've just had
to experiment, & many times I've been told there will be no contraindication
re PD symptoms & lo & behold there are. We PDrs are the only ones who know.
Hope this is helpful. BEH
