He is getting a lot of online and TV publicity and so far the DBS surgery looks good. They showed the surgery as it took place at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Jack Rob Peppers Gets a Glimpse of a Normal Life Allison Paige We are happy to report that one day after brain surgery, meteorologist Rob Peppers has returned home. The procedure, called deep brain stimulation, could give rob the gift of a normal life. One moment during Tuesday's procedure gave rob a glimpse of what life could be like, if the surgery is a success. The surgery started at about 9:30 a.m. when the medical team began drilling two dime sized holes through the skull. Next, they advanced the first electrode through Rob's brain. When they reached the target, Rob's neurosurgeon sent out a test jolt of electricity, to see how rob would react. At that moment, Rob's tremors virtually disappeared. The surgery appears to be a success, but we'll have to wait six weeks to find out how much it will help treat Rob's Parkinson's Symptoms. That's when the generators in Rob's chest will be turned on, and they should block the impulses that cause his uncontrollable shaking. Rob is willing to share this moment in his life with us, because he wants you to learn more about Parkinson's. If you would like to help advance Parkinson's research right here in Kansas, you can send your donation to the "Parkinson Association of Greater Kansas City at 7808 foster street Overland Park, KS 66204 Or you can call them at 913-341-8840. 70 percent of the money goes to research, unless you designate all of it to do so.
