Fox talks Parkinson's in TV documentary

By BILL BRIOUX

Michael J. Fox will be featured on the upcoming Canadian
documentary The Parkinson's Enigma, a special to air April 7
on CTV and April 11 on The Discovery Channel.

The former Spin City star, who walked away from his TV career
a season-and-a-half ago after revealing he was suffering from
Parkinson's Disease, joins famed neurologist Dr. Oliver Sacks
in talking about PD, which afflicts 60,000 new people in
North America every year.

STARTLING THEORY
One startling theory put forth in the special is that Parkinson's
is not a disease at all but a virus or perhaps a brain injury
caused by toxins in the environment.

Fox, who got his start on the CBC series Leo & Me in 1976,
reveals that four members of that crew have been diagnosed
with Parkinson's. Coincidence or clue?

The possibility of reversing the effects of Parkinson's
through stem cell therapy is also examined
in the hour-long special.
