i wish i had the language of the resolution handy..to recognize parkinson's in april..i do not.. i will though, share information on the bills moving their way through the california legislature... Senate Joint Resolution 38 authors ortiz and vasconcellos..makes various findings and declarartions relative to the societal and economic value of stem cell research. requests the president and congress to reject legislation(i.e. brownback 1899) that impedes the progress of science by impeding stem cell research and to enact legislation that temporarily bans reproductive cloning and permits theraputic cloning. Senate Bill 1230, author dede alpert..repeals sunset of california's temporary ban on reproductive human cloning. requires that the dept of health services establish a committee to advise the legislature and the governor on human cloning and other issues related to human biotechnology. appropriates $$ to fund the advisory committee. SCR 55-author ortiz...finds an estimated 128 million americans (too low, we know)suffer economic and psychological burden of chronic, degenerative and acute diseases and that stem cell research will provide critical means to unlock fundamental questions of cellular biology and offers tremendous promise... Senate Bill 1272 Ortiz..Permits stem cell research from any source, including somatic cell nuclear transfer, which is approved by an institutional review board, requires individuals receiving infertility treatments be provided information regarding the disposition of an embryo including possibility of donating embryos for research and requires written consent for those donated for research. all of these have passed committee and will go to the floor. votes were heavily in support. many spoke against brownback in the senate which will criminalize doctors, patients, even those who go abroad for potential treatment and return to the u.s. terry, more than you asked for but when i can get more on the resolution i'll advise. maxine ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
