"Great things are done by a series of smaller things brought together" This quote is from a new web site called The Grassroots Connection. Can you guess who wrote it? (see below) The quote describes perfectly what this new web site is all about. The site was created to increase knowledge about Parkinson's Disease and related health care issues and to encourage grass roots advocacy. It was developed and is maintained by two People With Parkinson's - Paula Wittekind and Peg Willocks - with a little help from their friends - but The Grassroots Connection really belongs to all of us. Your input, ideas, comments, articles, reviews and concerns are welcomed. Please take a look at the website at : www.grassrootsconnection.com The current issues deal with Medicare coverage or non-coverage of DBS surgery and how YOU can contact Medicare officials to support covergae of the surgery for all Parkies who need it -- that is not the case right now. It is also not presently covered by all HMO's or health insurance companies. The second issue is a Declaration of Support to Help Cure Parkinson's Disease -- consider signing it to demonstrate the crucial importance of finding a cure for Parkinson's Disease. Please send Paula your ideas for future issues to highlight, or consider writing an article about an issue or concern. This site does not represent any organization. You are not being asked for donations. It is for each of us to share our ideas and to take an active role in making the cure a reality and improving the quality of care for all PWP. Thanks, Linda P.S. If you want to find out who is the author of the quote -- see www.grassrootsconnection.com -- you may be surprised! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
