I am sure there are a lot of speech therapists out there and I am one of them
. I was diagnosed as having Parkinson's 8 years ago. I am

sure I had it long before it was diagnosed. I retired 2 years ago; after
working for 32 years. I found it very; motivating to my patients when I

told them how I spent most of the day trying to reverse the symptoms as they
developed.

Luckily I am creative, love poetry and like to sing.

I start moving around in bed for 5 minutes before I sit on the side of the
bed. I begin taking deep breaths, sit up straight and roll my shoulders

back. Ideally I take a warm shower for the stiffness .I then rub my back and
shoulders by; pulling the towel back and forth.Next I wash and pat my face,

put o;n face cream and practice smiling, frowning etc. until it is time for
my
medicine. Here is my downfall- remembering to take my pills. When all goes
well
I try to remember to stand straight, lo; ok people in the eye, project my
voice, and
breath through my n;ose with my mouth closed s;o I don't drool.I also have to
be
careful eating . I am very thankful I spent so much time working with other
people
because it no;w comes so; much easier t;o; me. By the way I surely could
use a good typist. Feel free to; contact me [log in to unmask]
