The Effective Writing Program at the University of Calgary
is seeking an instructor to teach a quarter course (18-20
hours) in academic writing (ACWR 301) in Vancouver this
spring. The scheduling would be somewhat flexible, but the
course should be completed within the May - June 2002
period.

The course would be an introductory / intermediate course in
academic writing, focusing on the writing styles, genres,
and modes of evidence and reasoning appropriate to the
discipline of Community Rehabilitation and Disability
Studies. The course should emphasize the connections between
reading, writing, critical reasoning, and other discourse
forms (such as oral and electronic presentation) where
appropriate. Depending on the scheduling, there may be an
opportunity to link this course to another course the
students may be taking concurrently.

Enrollment is expected to be around 15 students in their
third or fourth year of post-secondary studies. Remuneration
will be approximately $2050 for the quarter course.

If you (or someone you know) might be interested in teaching
this course, please e-mail Jo-Anne Andre at the University
of Calgary ([log in to unmask]) with a copy of your cv and an
indication of your scheduling preferences for the course.
Applications will be accepted until noon on Monday, April
15. If you'd like more information, please call me at (403)
220-7429.

Thanks!
