Hello list, It has been a while since I posted. The last post was "To tell or not to tell" talking about applying for a job w/PD back in July of 01. Well my experience has been DO NOT TELL. I was very truthful in all interviews. I had about 10-12 interviews, whether in person or on the phone, both results the same, no job. No one wanted a 52 year old with PD no matter how successful. All were very "nice", very corporate. Most of these were technical/professional interviews. I really struggled. It had to be the hardest thing yet in my life. So I slipped into a depressed state for a while, wallowed around feeling sorry for myself. Didn't want to communicate with anyone, family, 9 year old son, friends, associates. It was bad. My CG Jennifer (wife) Thank God for her, did not give up on me. She was always right there. Not pushy, just there. In her wisdom, she gently made suggestions to help. Finally I "heard". And as a result I; Joined a Support Group - it has changed my life, I am not alone! Got help from Indiana FSSA (Family Social Services Admin) in the form of: 1. New computer with voice activated software paid for eval and equip 2. Low vision eye test paid for test and three pair glasses 3. Driving test paid for exam and adaptive devices The best news is my friends/associates convinced me to start my own company. It is up and running, doing well. Well as well as a new co. can do. My sincere Thanks to the "List" In the last 5 years it has made a positive difference in my life, no matter what is posted, good, bad or indifferent the "List" has been there. Thanks to those who are looking out for us with the latest and greatest news and goings on. I for one APPRECIATE it and your time.
