Emily,

As soon as I started getting requests for my generic Sinemet, I started
having doubts about my offer. I've never been face-to-face with any of the
people who made the requests. However, I'm trusting that the requests were
made responsibly (i.e. people have already been prescribed the drug but are
financially burdened to buy it).

That's the advantage of being connected to a community, and I consider our
list server a community. If one of us harms another, it's an offense against
the entire community, and the person doing the harm can expect consequences
from the community. Likewise, a request for help from a community member is
more likely to be valid than one coming from a complete stranger (which is
why helping a stranger is riskier and requires more courage and judgement
than helping one with whom you have ties).

I wouldn't do this with just anybody on the Internet. There's so many
weirdos out there. There's weirdos in our community, too, but even they (ok,
we) can be expected to act more honorably toward those who we "see every
day."

Thanks for your concern,

Rees Jenkins
