Kathleen,

I think that it is the half-tiem school and full-time work that has made it stressful. It is quite strange, but two years ago I joined a company because the money was good but I figured that I wouln't survive more than a year or two. The place was just plain weird. There is no real structure, nepotism is rampant and I have no idea how they have survived this long (much less grown and remained debt free). The company is owned and run by a Japanese family.

I've been there over two years now and am going strong. The Japanese flavor has given it a feeling of family. Any accomodations they have made for me have been gracious and unquestioned. I fought the nepotism thing by hiring my own son to work in the company over the summers and school breaks. He loves it and they like him. And I think that they respect me for wanting to place my own kid there.

In addition to actually working on Govt contracts I am also trying to build a group within the company.

In answer to your query: It has been stressful but after 30 years of work experience and negotiating my way into PD, I've learned to roll with the punches and keep my confidence level up. I've also learned thatit isn't so much what you do but who you do it with.
