Starting June 4th {Tues}, 1:00pm {Eastern time} & 9:00pm {Eastern Time}, &
every Tues. at these times, until further notice. Chats are scheduled for
one-hour minimum.
Chats will be co-hosted by Jimmie "Toad" Turner & Ryan Tripp {Canadian
buddy}. Initially designed for open forum, these chats will focus on life
with PD & all Parkies, friends, family, & caregivers, are welcome. You can
reach us at [log in to unmask] with your comments or suggestions for topics &
/or guest speakers.
Our goals are four fold. One, is to have a place to go, where you know there
will be a warm welcome waiting. Two, to revive interest in the chat rooms. If
there is enough interest, we may have a regular insomniac's chat. Three,
increase PLWP membership. Four, to provide a beacon for newbies {recently
diagnosed Parkies}.
I can well remember the feeling of being lost, & alone, after being told I
had PD. That was 3-92. I remained alienated from the world until 12-99, when
I stumbled into my first Parky chat room. At last, I was where someone
understood my fears, concerns, & questions. Even when there were no answers;
I didn't feel stupid for asking. I was looking for empathy, not sympathy. I
wanted to know "why?, or "why not?." There was even some comfort in knowing I
wasn't the only one who had, & still have, unanswered questions.
We are in no way wanting to compete with the other fine Parky chat rooms. In
fact, we encourage you to support them too. I would like to see a chat room
available every morning & every evening, but by different hosts & people. The
truth is we all have different attitudes, opinions, tastes, & time
availabilities. You may be more comfortable in another chat, with a different
host. Then again, we may become your home away from home. Come join us & see!
In self-examination, I've wondered, "Why am I doing this?" The answer was
simple. I asked Nancy & Brenda, co-founders of PLWP, "How can I help?" The
least you can do is show up, & see if we've made a mistake.
