Hello there! My name is Liz Causey and I am a new member to the list serv.
I'm an orientation and mobility specialist; I teach individuals with visual
impairments techniques on how to travel in various environments.

I am working with an individual who has Parkinson's disease, a hearing loss,
and blindness. The couple has a problem: They were wondering if I had any
suggestions to help with his balance problems. He tends to cross his legs,
which seems to get him tangled up and his right side appears to be weaker
than his left. Occassionally, he falls, which causes him much trauma. He's
dependent on his wife, who helps him with his daily activities. Does anyone
have any suggestions to help with the balance problems? I was told that the
couple should contact a physical therapist, however they have run out of
health insurance and have no money. They are a loving couple and would
greatly appreciate any help!!
Thanks,
Liz
