FIRST-YEAR ENGLISH PROGRAM
The First-Year English Program at Bilkent University is now
recruiting a
Director of Writing Across the Curriculum for the 2002-2003
academic year.
The job involves administering WAC/adjunct language courses,
working to
promote the development of enhanced language courses, and
teaching up to
five hours of courses per semester in the First-Year English
Program.
Candidates should have most if not all of the following:
¨ Masters or Doctorate in rhetoric/composition, applied
linguistics, or
related fields
¨ Teaching experience at the university level
¨ WAC/administrative experience
The First-Year English Program provides courses to, and
tutoring for,
students in five faculties. Its mission is:
¨ to improve students' language and academic skills for
university and beyond;
¨ to broaden their perspectives through the study of
intellectual,
historical, artistic, and cultural materials and traditions;
¨ to heighten students' sensitivity to their environment by
encouraging
them to connect course materials to local and global
contexts; and
¨ to encourage students to become more critical, creative
and reflective
about their own thinking.

qualifications and
experience.
