I remember reading sometime ago which amounted to someting like this:
It is known that dopamine producing cells are stimulated to produce more
dopamine-lioke substances from sinemet. This may work forseveral years,
however, it looses effect after that and produces only harmful side effects.
Later on, by a study from Australia (?) indicated that the reason for the
lack of effect after some time is that the neorons are dead an gone leaving
an empty spacee. But, as far as I know sinemet does not cause the death of
neurons; if the recent news confirms that sinemet is causing the death of
neurons, I am not aware of that. I caught in the TV news (CNN Headlinr
Newws at 10.30 PM (9.30 PM ET on 31May2002) a glimpse of such bad effect of
sinemet; I got curious and watched the 11.PM (10 PM ET) version of the same
news; however, this happened to be another edition, in which they have
omitted thi part of the news.
