Dear Jim,
      I have not done anything with metrone, but what you're talking about
is similar to an exercise that my physical therapist does.  She would have
me step up, step to the left, step down, step to the right --  all at her
pace.  She said the idea was to promote smoother motions with less
hesitation and jerkiness.  Thanks for sharing!  --Katie from El Campo
