Joan, Remember this --- it has to be a REALLY CHEAP radio --- the ones that cost $5 or less as Wal-Mart. A good radio will cut out the static. Also --- some settings create more static than others. Some will create a virtual roar on the radio and others may be quite faint. Hold the radio to the wire behind your ear or on top of your head and tune it until you get static. Also move the radio around if you have difficulty until you find where the internal antenna is located.
