Connie, The most imporant thing that you can do is set up your workstation properly. Your forearms should be resting on a work surface while you are typing. The chair height should be adjusted so that your forearms rest comfortably on the work surface. Elevate the monitor so that the plane of your face is parallel to the surface of the monitor. In other words, while sitting erect, make sure that you are not looking down at the monitor. Looking slightly up moves the center of gravity of your head more squarely on your shoulders reducing fatigue. Use a track ball instead of a mouse. With a track ball your arm can remain supported by the work surface while with a mouse you are constantly holding up your arm. Do stretching exercises. One good exercise is with a piece of surgical tubing or rubber exercise bands. Sit in a chair next to a door. Loop the surgical tubing around the top of the door and pull down on each end of the surgical tubing doing 20-30 reps..
