i must tell you all, as i sometimes find myself in discussions with other activist pders- that it is my opinion that having pd does carry with it the responsability to become an activist for the cause. while i am constantly involved with pd-fundraising, awareness, helping new-comers, i do not expect anyone else to choose the same path. there are many on this journey but not everyone has the same drives, the same goals, the same gifts. i for one, believe that by his very presence, the pope, like mjfox and ali generate enough awareness that they need never say another word. i have struggles too, to get my groceries and do the little tasks that make each day a challenge but i certainly don't begrudge nor wish to take on the huge responabilities of these famous people. this is a disease which is constantly requiring a trade-off: a few good hours for a few bad hours. i cannot tell anyone else how they must deal with their disease...and i won't. -- Joan E.
