My mother has been having terrible pains these days that Ben Gay nor Efficasent Oil can remedy so her neuro suggested giving her Butolinum toxin injections to her muscles. She will be given 100 unites for her big muscles.

That is the same as the Butox injection we here about for taking off wrinkles right?

Apparently the butox paralyzes the muscles. So when given in the face, it relaxes the face muscles so as it doesnt wrinkle?

I guess that would be the same principle for PD. When the muscles get rigid, too rigd it is painful, an injection to paralyze the muscle will help stop the rigidity, thus no rigidity, no pain.

Mom hasn't received the injections yet. Has anyone in the list heard of such a remedy for PD rigidity? I'd like to know of any pro's or con's against Butox injections for PD.

  Dear Margie & others,
Ben Gay is good, but the smell causes my asthma to kick in. I use Biofreeze, but it is hard to find. Biofreeze isn't displayed on store's shelves, but a physical therapist in your area should be able to tell you where to find it. -- Katie from El Campo
