Randy, I am co-cg to my mother, now 83 and with Parkinson's for about 20 or so years. Two Septembers ago, she entered an assisted care facility and last fall she was moved to a nursing home. I think you are very wise to be looking into the future now. In my experience so far, I have not found any long term care insurance company who will under write someone with Parkinson's. Now, for us at least, it is beside the point. I had an excellent large paper back book that was loaned to me and now loaned to a friend that sounds like a resource that you can use. Unfortunately, the copy was about 5 years old and I think surely there must be a more up to date copy. The title was something like Avoiding the Medicaid Trap. If you try your local book store, you may be able to find an updated version of something similar. If you call or go and they have no clue, email me back and I will run down the person to whom I loaned the book and get the ISBN #, publisher, etc. for you. This book was full of strategies to do just what you are trying to do plus sample legal forms to use in the back and how to use them.
