Hello all, Spoke separately to Robert and Deborah tonight. He was heading back to his digs for a bit of rest; she was settling in for the night. It was a long day; MRIs till 3 p.m., then a long wait for a room, which finally materialized around 8:30. Tomorrow they will talk to the doctors, presumably learn the results of today's tests, and endure a few more. Both R & D are weary -- it's a strenuous undertaking -- but their strength and humor are very much in evidence. Deborah's descriptions of the hospital decor (early to mid 1960s) and of some of her more obstreperous neighbors were funny, though also at times appalling. She also noted the hospital's quaint practice of collecting, each day, in cash, from each and every patient who can/will pay, $5 for the phone and $5.50 for the television. I assume this money has been subjected to rigorous disinfecting procedures?! Here is Deborah's hospital address and phone: North Shore University Hospital, Room 474 300 Community Drive Manhasset, NY 11030 516-684-5812 I know she will appreciate hearing from her friends. Here's hoping for a productive, informative day for Deborah and Robert, one that will bring some long-awaited answers and provide support and hope.
