One must be quite careful and very thorough in researching supplements, as
too many can cause harm.
Some are powerful, and can be beneficial.
Here is just one .....
Astaxanthin? Have you heard of this one?
This is just one of many supplements you can choose from and I do take this
one as part of a nutrient complex ---
astaxanthin. I am NOT a medical doctor, and make no suggestions to the list
here, but there are peer reviewed papers available on the supplement.
Quote:
"Astaxanthin, a naturally occurring carotenoid pigment, is a powerful
biological antioxidant. Astaxanthin exhibits strong free radical scavenging
activity and protects against lipid peroxidation and oxidative damage of
LDL-cholesterol, cell membranes, cells, and tissues. Astaxanthin has been
the focus of a large and growing number of peer-reviewed scientific
publications."
I take it in addition to others, but remember, I do not have PD, only desire
to fortify myself to a reasonable degree to avoid it.
There is more information at
http://www.astaxanthin.org/neurodisease.htm
and keep in mind that this site has some bias as it is supported by
http://www.aquasearch.com/ , or Mera Pharmaceuticals, which promotes
products that are "ocean based". I am always very careful on matters of
nutrients, and a never suggest them to folks that have PD, without first
telling them to ask their doctor. I am not connected to , or affiliated with
those websites
in any manner; but came upon them on my own research into "astaxanthin" .

This particular antioxidant is supposedly much more powerful than
beta-carotene or Vitamin E.
Additional thoughts or knowledge would be most welcome.
I know that an over abundance of antioxidants can be harmful, so
be informed before taking this one.
Balence is key, and then consistency.
