University of Toronto at Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a
tenure-stream position in Professional Writing and Communication at the
rank of Assistant Professor.  Professional Writing and Communication is an
interdisciplinary program, and applicants from a range of backgrounds in
humanities, sciences and social sciences are invited to apply.  UTM has a
strong interdisciplinary commitment, a multicultural student body, and a
modern, spacious campus.

Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching is sought.  Preference
will be given to applicants with teaching and research interests in writing
and communications theory and pedagogy.  It will be advantageous if
candidates have teaching and research experience with computer internet
communications and/or Media Relations.  The appointee will be expected to
develop an externally funded research program and contribute to a diverse
undergraduate and graduate education.  Professional Writing and
Communication is a developing program with close links to a new Culture,
Communication and Information Technology Program (C.C.I.T.).  The appointee
is expected to contribute to the development of both programs.

A Ph.D. is required as of July 1, 2003 or soon thereafter.  The successful
candidate will teach  undergraduate courses in the Professional Writing and
Communication Program, CCIT Program and graduate courses at OISE/UT
(Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) in the Department of
